This book is printed on archival quality paper especially milled for this collector’s edition with gilded edges. The end sheets are of moire fabric with a silk ribbon page marker. Smyth sewing and concealed muslin joints to ensure the highest quality binding. This book is in full leather with hubbed spines. 1980 First Easton Press Edition. The Way of All Flesh, as edited and completed by R. A Streatfield was published posthumously in London in 1903 by Jonathan Cape, Ltd. It was included in the twenty-volume Shrewsbury Edition of Butler's works, edited by Henry Festing Jones and A. T. Bartholomew, published 1923-26 by Jonathan Cape & E. P. Dutton, London and New York. Among the numerous reprints of the novel have been those issued by Modern Library, New York, 1917; Macmillan & Co., New York, 1925; and Nash, London,1928. The edition containing the introduction by Theodore Dreiser and illustrations by Robert Ward Johnson was published in New York by The George Macy Companies, Inc. (copyright 1936, © 1964). This Collector's Edition was published by advance reservation exclusively for subscribers to the Easton Press collection of The 100 Greatest Books Ever Written. The frontispiece portrait was specially commissioned by The Easton Press.
