Beautiful, well made and designed book, written by one of the greats – Laurence Sterne. Fine and genuine leather Bound. Book accented in 22kt gold. Condition: Good. Mild scratch on cover and the fore edge gilt (see images) but nevertheless very nice and well worth it for the large discount as a result. The second page has an ex libris (label) from the publisher (Easton Press) with owner's signature on the label. 1375g, 18x27x4cm. This book is printed on archival quality paper especially milled for this collector’s edition with gilded edges to last well in ti future generations. The end sheets are of moire fabric with a silk ribbon page marker. Smyth sewing and concealed muslin joints to ensure the highest quality binding. This book is in full leather with hubbed spines. 1980 First Easton Press Edition. The first two volumes of Tristram Shandy were issued at York, England, in 1759 and reprinted in 1760; volumes 3 and 4 appeared in 1761, volumes 5 and 6 in 1762, volumes 7 and 8 in 1765, and volume 9 in 1767. The complete novel has been constantly reprinted in Great Britain and the United States, and is included in various editions of Sterne's collected works, notably in the six-volume edition of 1894 edited by George Saintsbury. The edition containing the illustrations by T. M. Cleland and the introduction by Christopher Morley was first issued in New York in 1935 (copyright • 1935, 1963 by The George Macy Companies, Inc.). This Collector's Edition was published by advance reservation exclusively for subscribers to the Easton Press collection of The 100 Greatest Books Ever Written.
