It was first published in book form in Conrad's Youth and Two Other Stories (William Blackwood & Sons, Edinburgh and London, 1902), and reappeared in the Uniform Edition of his collected works published by J. M. Dent & Sons, Ltd., London, in 1925. Heart of Darkness has since been frequently reprinted in both Great Britain and America. The edition containing Robert Shore's illustrations and Leo Gurko's introduction was first issued by The George Macy Companies, Inc. (New York, copyright © 1969).
