The Library Edition of Historic Characters and Famous Events (11 Volume set)
Originally published in 1900, this beautiful 11 volume collection was published in 1905 by the Art Library Publishing Company, Boston. Edited by J.B.Millet and illustrated with photogravures. Volume 2 is missing. It is very difficult to find a complete set that is in as good condition. This was originally a 12 volume set. The buyer of this collection will likely be able to find Volume 2 sold individually at some point somewhere as individual copies are very popular and sold every now and then. The content is absolutely great as are the beautiful illustrations. These books make for great random reading from any volume, on any page. Furthermore, these books are wonderful just to hold or lavishly display on a bookshelf. The page quality is excellent. The bindings are tight, and the gold gilt on the top page edges are still visible; on the cover and spine as well. These are in excellent condition (see all images) compared to almost any other collection out there. The good condition makes them even more valuable as they are likely to last well into the future and appreciate in value over time. Condition: Great for age with expected wear and fading on some covers (see all images). Structural integrity of the books are excellent. No loose leafs. No markings. Pages clean and impeccable. Weight between 900g to 1000g per book. Average dimensions 17x24x3.5cm
